Our amazing team of part-time volunteers are committed to helping feed the homeless of Tucson.

Soup Patrol began back in 2006 when Br. David Bauer, OFM obtained a small grant. He rented a van for two months and began distributing soup provided by Caridad Community Kitchen on the streets of Tucson.
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me." (Matt 25:35)
Serving soup daily from November 1 thru March 31
Daily schedule:
4:00 Pick up soup Monday thru Friday
5:40 Load van
6:00 Depart church
Arrive Caridad and serve
Arrive Z-Mansion and serve
Arrive Santa Cruz church and serve
8:00 Return to Church for clean up
Schedule exceptions:
We have found that Tucson Families provide an abundance of meals on the following days, so we do not deliver soup on:
Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
Driver/Server - 1
Servers - 3
What are the specific jobs needing to be done?
Drive the van
Serve soup.
Make Soup on weekends or holidays.
Pick up soup from Caridad on week day afternoons.
Make cookies in the MHT kitchen.
Make bread in the MHT kitchen.
Pick up donated bread.
Cut up meat, veggies, and bread.
Wrap spoons and napkins together.
How much time does it require?
Making soup requires 2-3 people or 2 couples for about 2 1/2 to 3
hours on a Saturday or Sunday.
Serving requires a commitment from 6 PM to 8:30 PM
What kind of commitment do I need to make?
Our serving season is from Nov. 1 through Mar. 31st.
Your commitment can be as little as one day a month. Some
people volunteer a number of days per month.
You sign up for your dates a month in advance. Our schedule is
as flexible as you need it.
Will training be provided?
We will have training sessions during the month of October.
